Powerball Launches in the UK for the First Time Outside the US

Allwyn, the operator of the UK National Lottery, has announced the launch of Powerball in the United Kingdom. The game will become available to players at retail locations starting July 21, 2026.

This release marks the first time Powerball has been offered outside of the United States. Subject to final regulatory approval, the UK-specific version of the game allows local players to compete alongside American participants. The shared jackpot pool is uncapped, with the starting prize fund set at £12 million.

A single line costs £4 to purchase. While the jackpot amount is shared across borders, the payout structure differs for UK residents. Winners in the United Kingdom will receive their prize distributed over a period of 30 years rather than as a lump sum.

Recent Changes to National Lottery Games

The introduction of Powerball follows recent adjustments made by Allwyn to its primary Lotto game. Last month, the operator updated the rules so that one £2 Lotto line now provides players with two separate chances to win.

Since its inception 34 years ago, Powerball has generated $38 billion for charitable causes. The largest recorded prize in the game's history was $2.04 billion, awarded to a winner in 2022.
